11 Rare Concepts cars from Chrysler set to make the journey to Lime Rock Park

August 1, 2023 – Lime Rock Park will become the center of the Chrysler performance car universe for five days this Labor Day weekend, hosting a gathering of iconic concept cars as Historic Festival 41 launches it’s celebrations Aug. 31-Sept. 4

The event, which will also feature on-track competition including races from race groups that include MG, Sports 2000 and Formula Jr., will see nearly a dozen examples of Chrysler concept cars displayed throughout the weekend with a special fan-viewing staging along the Sam Posey Straight for Sunday in the Park: The Lime Rock Concours.

“I couldn’t be more excited about participating in this year’s Lime Rock Historic Festival,” said Ralph Gilles, Stellantis Chief Design Officer, who will serve as the event’s Grand Marshal. “Enthusiasts will have the exclusive opportunity to see the illustrious history of Chrysler brand performance and concept cars in one location.”

A celebration that spans the decades, the Historic Festival will host a unique selection of Chrysler concept cars that have never previously assembled. Confirmed examples will include the 1960 Plymouth XNR that is equipped with the “Slant-6” engine, just one of 12 built to “NASCAR” specifications capable of 250HP, the 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car, one of just nine left in the world and the 1995 Chrysler Atlantic that was designed by Bob Hubbach and inspired by the Bugatti Atlantique. Other confirmed concept cars attending are the 1941 Chrysler Newport, 1953 Chrysler D’Elegance, 1954 Chrysler DeSoto Adventurer II,1957 Chrysler Diablo, 2005 Chrysler Firepower and the 2023 Chrysler 300 Special Edition.

Celebrating its 41st year, the Lime Rock Historic Festival launches into action on Thursday (Aug. 31) with a 17-mile tour through the area with Thursday’s Vintage Race Car and Sports Car Parade. Friday, Saturday and Monday feature non-stop on-track competition from a diverse set of historic racing classes ranging from pre-war open-wheel cars to the sports and formula cars of the postwar era.

On Sunday, the Lime Rock Concours and Gathering of the Marques will attract more than 1,000 classic cars and motorcycles arranged around the Lime Rock circuit.

In addition to the racing and incredible cars on hand, there will also be a swap meet, automobilia concessions, book signings, featured speakers and more to enjoy over the long holiday weekend.
