RealTime Brings Legendary World Challenge Cars to Lime Rock Park Historic Festival 42

SAUKVILLE, Wis. (August 5, 2024) – RealTime Racing, winners of 15 World Challenge Drivers’ Championships, will bring four of its turn-of-the-century World Challenge race cars to Lime Rock Park for the 42nd running the Historic Festival, August 30 – September 2. The cars are part of the Toyo Tires Turn-of-the-Century World Challenge Group created specifically for this year’s event.

RealTime owner Peter Cunningham will drive the team’s first-generation Acura TSX, which the team won three World Challenge Touring Car Championships; in 2005 and 2008 with Cunningham and in 2006 with Pierre Kleinubing. Historic World Challenge co-founder John Whitaker will drive a second-generation RealTime Acura TSX, a model Kleinubing won the 2009 Touring Car title and Cunningham drove to two World Challenge GTS championships.

“It seemed only fitting that RealTime would bring a collection of its No. 42 race cars to Lime Rock’s 42 Historic Festival,” Cunningham said. “I was thrilled when the track announced it would include a class specifically for World Challenge cars in this year’s festival. We started racing in World Challenge back in 1993, so RealTime’s history is very much intertwined with the series’ history.”

In addition to the TSXs, RealTime will bring two more iconic cars for display; an Acura Integra Type R which won Touring Car category championships in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002, and the Honda Prelude Si chassis in which Cunningham won his first ever Touring Car Championship in 1995. Michael Galati won the TC Championship and Rookie of the Year in the same car the following year. Cunningham and Galati went on to become the two drivers with the most World Challenge championships.

“We’ve had a lot of good trips to Lime Rock Park and won nine World Challenge races there, more than any other track,” Cunningham added. “We are all looking forward to reconnecting and racing with a lot of our former competitors.”

All the World Challenge cars will be outfitted in Toyo Tires, the original spec tire of the series from 2001 – 2010.
