The Wisconsin-based global manufacturer Clarios to support the Wisconsin native in the final two INDY NXT by Firestone events – including this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (August 30, 2024) – After a season of relentless on track improvement, ABEL Motorsports driver Yuven Sundaramoorthy’s season continued to get better off of it as well, as the young Wisconsin University graduate has partnered to represent the OPTIMA brand on the No. 22 ABEL Motorsports Dallara, starting with this weekend’s INDY NXT by Firestone Milwaukee 100.
Based in Glendale, Wisconsin, Clarios is one of the premier manufacturers of industrial batteries, with an established range of brands including OPTIMA Batteries, which will be on board the No. 22 ABEL Motorsports entry for the final two races of the season.
Sundaramoorthy’s car will now carry the familiar red and black colors of the Clarios/OPTIMA brand of batteries, one of the world’s foremost high-performance automotive, marine and heavy-duty AGM batteries.
For Sundaramoorthy, it’s a chance to give Wisconsin fans just one more local hero.
“To be working with our first major corporate sponsor – and to have it be a Wisconsin based company – is very special,” said Sundaramoorthy. “Especially to have our first race weekend be at the Milwaukee Mile, just a short distance from their headquarters. It’s a pretty cool thing. Hopefully this will be something the fans can get behind. Wisconsin fans are the best, so I’m really excited.
“I believe that there’s a great deal we can do for OPTIMA as well, so there’s a very good mutual connection there. I’m ready to roll the OPTIMA colors out onto the oval this weekend!”
The open wheel partnership marks a new endeavor for OPTIMA Batteries, which has traditionally supported a number of grassroots racers as well as Global Rallycross champion Tanner Foust.
“The heart of OPTIMA Batteries is with motorsports and enthusiasts,” said Marketing Director of OPTIMA Batteries Cameron Douglass. “We are constantly looking for new ways to align with drivers and race teams to help take our products to the next level.”
Sundaramoorthy joins teammates Jacob Abel (Louisville, Ky.) and Taylor Ferns (Shelby Township, Mich.) at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend, part of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES’ HY-VEE Milwaukee Mile 250s.
ABEL Motorsports thanks additional partners ABEL Construction Company, Advance Ready Mix, Boyd Cat®, S Team Motorsports, Quest Global and OMP for their continued support.
The INDY NXT by Firestone Milwaukee 100 takes the green flag Saturday at 3:50 p.m. ET. The race will be streamed live in the U.S. on Peacock, while international viewers can watch via INDYCARLIVE, with INDYCAR Radio available at indycar.com and on Sirius XM.
