Meyer Shank Racing Looking for Big Result in Mid-Ohio Homecoming

Mansfield, OH (22 July 2019) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) will return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the second time this year for the NTT IndyCar Series Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio (Sunday, NBC 3:30pm ET) looking for a big result in the team’s home race.

The appearance at Mid-Ohio will be the second in IndyCar competition for MSR driver Jack Harvey in the No. 60 AutoNation / SiriusXM Honda.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a special site for Meyer Shank Racing which is based just outside of Columbus. A rich history at the track has seen Mike Shank grow his race team from his roots at the central Ohio circuit.

Growing up as a fan, racing at the track himself, and then running an Atlantics team as team owner in the 90s is where the journey began for Shank who now have a two successful IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IndyCar programs. ‘’

Earlier this year the team scored a thrilling second place finish in the IMSA WeatherTech race, helping to push the squad to the top of the current IMSA championship standings.

The site is also special to Harvey, who scored his first ever North American win at Mid-Ohio in IndyLights in 2014. He then backed that up with a second win that same weekend. Additionally, he has scored three pole positions in Indy Lights at Mid-Ohio, so to say Harvey has become acquainted with the 2.258-mile course is putting it lightly.

“What Mid-Ohio means to our team doesn’t need a big introduction,” said Harvey. “It’s one of those races that we circle on the schedule every year to really do a good job at in front of Mike’s home crowd. We go into the weekend as we do any other, but there is definitely that bit of added pressure to have a good result. It’s been our goal to qualify in the top 12 and finish in the top ten and I hope that I can do that front of his friends and family. That’s what we are always looking to achieve, Mid-Ohio is just a little more special.”

With a crowd of friends, family and local sponsors planning to attend the event weekend, Shank is eager to produce results at his home track.

“It goes without saying that I love Mid-Ohio,” said Shank. “A lot of my history comes from this track so to now get the chance to race here twice in one year is really special. We are going into this weekend with the same mindset that we always do. Our crew and Jack continue to improve and we are aiming for a top ten result this weekend.”

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will be broadcast on Sunday, July 28th on NBC starting at 3:30PM ET. There will also be IndyCar Radio coverage throughout the weekend on SiriusXM Ch. 209 or online Ch. 970.
