SHANGHAI, China (26 November 2019) – Ozz Negri scored a fourth-place finish in Sunday’s Four Hours of Shanghai, the opening round of the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) campaign.
The Brazilian veteran joined Alessandro Pier Guidi and Francesco Piovanetti in the No. 51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3, competing in the GT class as the trio opened its second ALMS program together following their 2018-19 campaign.
Negri’s Ferrari started on the outside of the front row for the four hour race. Despite losing ground following an extra stop in pit lane, the Spirit of Race squad raced hard to make up the lost ground and the team made the most of its strategy to bring the three Ferrari pilots to fourth after four hours of hard racing.
“Overall we had a good race, and I think we had the possibility of being on the podium but it didn’t work out that way today,” said Negri. “We really fought hard to make up the lost ground, and we were helped by the fact that the car was amazing especially on old tires. A safety car helped us out as well. We are stronger this year and so is the (ALMS) competition. Francesco had a great pace and I think coming back to the tracks he has experience on already will pay off this season.”
The next event on the four-race schedule will be on January 12 at the Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend, South Australia.
