Hagler Heads North for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Debut

Bowmanville, Ontario (29 June 2022) – Adding yet another track to her expanding racing resume, Taylor Hagler will make her Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) debut at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 on July 2 (4:10pm ET, Peacock). Round six of the 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season takes the 2021 IMPC champion to the Canadian road course for the first time in her professional racing career.

Looking to get familiar with the facility, Hagler took to the 2.459-mile track early in race week as part of a Hyundai Canada event to meet with media members on Monday. The 2021 SRO GT Road Challenge Rookie of the Year was able to experience her first laps in a Hyundai street car, getting some key tips from Canada native and Bryan Herta Autosport teammate Mark Wilkins.

Hagler arrives at CTMP focused on regaining momentum in the TCR class championship with teammate Michael Lewis in the No. 1 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR.

At the Watkins Glen 120, the driver duo battled through qualifying with issues in the gearbox but maneuvered the No. 1 Elantra N from the back of the pack to sixth position by the checkered flag. However that big effort went unrewarded as a drive time infringement saw the entry moved to the back of the order. Despite the setback, Hagler and Lewis are just 30 points from the championship leader.

Following a complicated weekend, Hagler looks to take what she learned at Watkins Glen, and start anew as she looks forward to the fast, high-commitment circuit that sits just over an hour east of Toronto.

“Last weekend didn’t go quite as planned, and I’m glad to have a quick turnaround to head to CTMP,” said Hagler. “I am really looking forward to jumping back in the Hyundai so soon after the Glen, and racing on a track I have never competed on. We will get back to doing what we do best in the Elantra, and hopefully get back on top of championship points once our time in Canada is over.”

The Hyundai media event was another chapter in the ongoing marketing activation that the brand has developed to support the IMSA program and promote the growing line of N products.

“It is remarkable how much Hyundai puts their arms around this IMSA program with Bryan Herta Autosport,” said Hagler. “The race program is a great way to tell the story about the brand, and having events like these are great examples of that. And it doesn’t hurt at all that it meant I was able to get some slow laps to get familiar with the track ahead of the weekend!”

Hagler will go green at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on July 2 at 4:10pm ET on Peacock.
