Taylor Hagler Travels to Road America with Championship Lead

Elkhart Lake, Wisc. (1 August 2022) – Reigning IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) champion and current series leader, Taylor Hagler heads north to take on the National Park of Speed for the Road America 240 on August 6 (2:15pm ET, Peacock).

Hagler and teammate Michael Lewis will up the ante in the No. 1 Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) Hyundai Elantra N TCR with the second four-hour IMPC race of the season, staged at the 4.048-mile road course for the first time. The driver duo finished second at the first endurance event of the season at Daytona International Speedway.

Hagler knows what it takes to win on the natural terrain road course in Wisconsin, having claimed her first SRO victory in 2021 making it a standout weekend for her in the GT3 ranks at the circuit. The victory was a contributing factor in her run to the SRO GT World Challenge America Rookie of the Year title.

Last year’s IMSA Road America outing was a tough one for the Texas-native. The race saw varying weather conditions in addition to mechanical issues for Hagler which translated into an 11th place finish.

Bolstering the anticipation, the driver pair are riding a wave of momentum from the previous outing at at Lime Rock Park in July, which saw Hagler and Lewis impressively recover to score another top five finish with the No. 1 BHA Hyundai after rear contact early in the race.

Hagler remains hungry for another win with Lewis in the No. 1 BHA Hyundai in pursuit of an encore championship as the 2022 season enters its final critical stage.

“Road America is just a great track to drive and having this longer format will give the team more options for strategy through the race,” said Hagler. “We were able to bounce back at Lime Rock Park and we’ve been good pace-wise just about everywhere so hopefully we can keep that going this weekend. The track has been good for me in the past, and Michael (Lewis) and I are really hunting for a win. Hopefully we can make this happen with the Elantra this weekend.”

The green flag for the eighth round of IMPC competition will wave on August 6 at 2:15pm ET with flag-to-flag coverage on Peacock.
